Boston University Institute for Dental Research and Education (BUIDRE) – Dubai has announced the launch of its ‘Education in Dental Specialties’ program concurring with US standards.
A member of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center (AMC), BUIDRE-Dubai is the first institute of its kind in the region.
It offers specialty educational programs in endodontics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry and periodontology.
The programs offered at BUIDRE-Dubai will combine the appropriate mix of clinical experience and a strong academic component, with adequate emphasis on original research.
The successful completion of the program will earn residents a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in the specialty as well as a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) degree, a statement from the BUIDRE said.
BUIDRE-Dubai also announced it will showcase all its programs at the ongoing UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition - AEEDC Dubai 2010, a leading dental event in the Middle East.

AEEDC Dubai, being organised under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, UAE Minister of Finance, and president of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), runs till March 11.

Faculty members at BUIDRE-Dubai are highly specialized with various areas of expertise and have undergone extensive training all are American Board Certified. The curriculum at the Dubai institute is comparable to the programs offered at Boston University in the US.
Dr Zahra Baalawi, director of Academic Development and Support Services –AMC, said, “The program offers significant insights and helps provide the required academic qualification levels, experience and exposure to residents.
