Dubai Industrial City has started leasing nearly 2.8 million sq m of open storage yards to meet the huge demand from major automotive, equipment and construction companies.
A member of Tatweer and the third largest non-real estate project in Dubai, the industrial city has many advantages including a prime location adjacent to Dubai World Central’s Al Maktoum International Airport, its proximity to Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone.
Easy accessibility to major highways has also contributed to an increasing demand for open storage yards in the destination, said a top government official.
Rashed Al Ansari, vice president of Dubai Industrial City, said: 'We have so far leased 60 per cent of the allocated 2.8 million square feet of land and we are planning to increase the area for open storage.'
A demarcated option such as this is preferred over conventional storage and warehousing facilities by an increasing number of companies for storing their equipment and other items.
'We have been working closely with our clients to optimize the utilization of our land and offer services and facilities for their daily operational needs. Our flexible storage solutions will considerably help meet diverse market requirements while allowing us to directly contribute to bridge the shortage of storage facilities in Dubai.'
The open storage area will be managed by transPARK, the dedicated end-to-end logistics provider that operates under the umbrella of Dubai Industrial City.
The transPARK will ensure organized storage, inventory and logistics solutions for clients within the premises of the manufacturing hub.
The open storage yards are built to comply with the highest quality and finishing and provided with round the clock security. The yards boast of adequate floodlights at night and a perimeter fence, as well as suitable landscaping.
'This is one of our dedicated services that complement our warehouse storage facilities. We aim to offer more such innovative solutions for the benefit of industrial investors in our endeavour to create an enabling destination for global brands,' Al Ansari added.
The 560 million sq ft industrial destination comprises six clusters featuring food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment.
Complementary facilities for logistics, warehousing, labour cities, industrial training, in addition to commercial, residential and entertainment zones, have positioned Dubai Industrial City as a comprehensive one stop-shop destination.-TradeArabia News Service
